History of Dogs and Humans; A Pair Made in Heaven

You must have seen that meme on the internet, where a man and a dog is sitting on the edge of the city. In the bubble, it is shown that man is wondering about money, cars, house et cetera, and the dog is thinking about precisely the same scene, sitting with his human. I can relate to this meme so much because this is what they do. We have other priorities in life, too, but dogs have only one preference, their human. So, to celebrate this divine union, I am going to tell you about the significant relationship between dogs and humans, and how did it start?

The Wolves

You know how dogs share 99% of their DNA with the wolves, right? Some 1500 years ago, the domestication of wolves started. And today’s dogs share 99.9% of their DNA with them. According to the archaeological records, a Bonn-Oberkassel dog’s remains are found buried with a human being, some 14,200 years ago. It was 3200 years ago they started domesticating boars, sheep, and goats. Where the domestication of dogs began is a highly debatable topic, but it is a common belief that it began somewhere around Central, East Asia, or Western Europe.

How Did It Happen?

One of the most convincing theories about wolf domestication is that; it could be possible that wolves used to raid human camps at night in search of leftovers. A human possibly allured them with food one fine and ever since the best relationship of this world happened. They were hunting together, they were eating together, and they were safeguarding their families together.

The Walking Tools

Dogs are often called walking tools for humans. As mentioned before, they were doing a lot along with humans. But what was their best use? They were saving cattle from other wild animals like jackals and even jaguars. They could shepherd their sheep hunt with them. Kind of all-rounders.

The Pets

In the United States of America alone, some 48% of citizens have pet dogs. For one apparent reason, they are the best. As per the studies, humans started domesticating sheep and goats roughly 11,000 years ago. Cats were official pets 7000 B.C when we started crop storage, and mice started to trouble us. And around 4000 B.C donkeys, oxen and camels were tamed for export purposes, of course. Horses were first used only as transport, but as men found out about their genius, they used them to carry goods too.

And Emotional Support Animals

They helped us hunting, keeping ourselves safe, guarding our livestock, and now they have turned into medicine. In the long list of tasks, they have been doing for us, being an emotional support animal is another feather in the cap of dogs. Emotional support animals, for the people who do not know, are those official pets who are given to a mentally disturbed human being. It is a part of pet therapy, which is known to keep a person calm in certain situations; for example, ESA can defuse anxiety triggers in a person.

Waving the Paw

All right, so as you have seen, dogs have been more than a help to human beings. If you ever had a pet dog, you can understand how much they love you and how much they can do for humans. They are this friend who you can lean on, or on whom you can trust blindly, cannot say this for a lot of people nowadays. So, if you have an ESA, they need to be treated right, and they need to get the latest emotional support dog vest. Keep those cute smiles going. Chao!
